Rapper DMX trying to save house through bankruptcy filing

A December 29 article of Mail Online revealed that well-known rap artist “DMX” has filed for bankruptcy to possibly protect his house in New York and to settle his millions worth of debt to creditors.

Reports said it is already the third time that the 46-year-old rapper had filed for bankruptcy. DMX, or Earl Simmons, had first filed for bankruptcy in 2009. DMX has reportedly filed for Chapter 13 Bankruptcy after owing $2,030,970 to his creditors including several family support payments. In his filing, DMX had listed his $350,000 home in Mount Kisco as his asset and denied owning any other assets. DMX, who “has fathered 15 children” to several different women, filed for Chapter 13 after failing to settle child support payments in more than a decade. He was also arrested in 2015 and sentenced to six months of imprisonment for not paying child support.

Ex-Baywatch actress seeks bankruptcy protection

Nicole Eggert, who is well-known for her Baywatch role, recently filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy to protect her property.

According to reports, the 42-year-old actress will have an opportunity to continue paying her mortgage to prevent her house from being liquidated. Under the plan, Eggert will pay $1,071.43 monthly for the first year to the bank, in addition to $800 monthly to creditors. After that, the next two years she will be required to pay $1320 monthly to the bank.

Nicole listed $1,070,400 worth of assets while her liability listed was $807,115. She also stated in the filing that she has monthly expenses of more than $20,000.

This bankruptcy filing is her third attempt in less than a year, with the two previous claims being rejected.

Major investors in Energy Future strive to minimize losses

Investment firms KKR & Co., Goldman Sachs Capital Partners, and TPG Capital spearheaded the $48-billion buyout of Energy Future Holdings Corp., the biggest power plant owner in Texas.

Now, they are striving to get barely 3% of their initial investment back since the company filed for bankruptcy.

Talks to negotiate with their senior creditors, which include Leon Black’s Apollo Global Management LLC and Centerbridge Capital Partners LLC, have stalled when their ability to view nonpublic information about the company was compromised.

An agreement that failed last week would have earned the company’s owners a mere $270 million.
