A bankruptcy judge in New York showed some sympathy to a U.S. Navy veteran who held a law degree. Judge Cecelia Morris, a bankruptcy judge in New York, recently discharged the unpaid student loans of a law school graduate, without him being disabled or unemployable. The judge found that repayment of the law school debt in full would put an undue hardship on the debtor. While this ruling is not common across the country or in our district, it does show some movement toward a more debtor friendly stance when undertaking student loan dischargeability. If you have student loan issues, bankruptcy may offer you relief. Contact Birmingham Bankruptcy Lawyer Paula Greenway at Greenway Bankruptcy Law 205-324-4000 or by email at GreenwayLaw@gmail.com.
